O Βruno Pronsato, έχοντας μεγαλώσει παίζοντας drums σε διάφορα rock συγκροτήματα ανακαλύπτει τη νέα μεγάλη του αγάπη. Τα synthesizers κ τα computers. Έχοντας κυκλοφορήσει εδώ και μια 5ετία ΕPs κυρίως στην Orac κ την Telegraph, επιστρέφει με ένα φρέσκο δίσκο αυτή τη φορά στην Hello? Repeat. Στο Why Can't We Be Like Us διακρίνεται το παλιό του πάθος για τα drums και η καινούρια του ψύχωση με τα bits.

Aντί να βγάλει έναν τυπικό δίσκο streamlined minimal, μας προσφέρει έναν ακόμα πιο αφηρημένο ήχο: αυτό του σκοτεινού, ομιχλώδους, οργανικού και ρυθμικού. Ενώ με το πρώτο άκουσμα φαίνεται σαν οποιοσδήποτε άλλος producer του είδους του, με περισσότερο προσοχή και τη βοήθεια καλών ακουστικών αποκαλύπτεται αυτό που κάνει πραγματικά το δίσκο ξεχωριστό. Η αριστοτεχνική χρήση καλών και προσεκτικών samples, η ογκώδης ενέργεια των percussive στοιχείων εμπλουτισμένων με funky ήχους, η δυναμική των συνθέσεών του, δείχνουν ποιότητα ενός πραγματικού μουσικού. Αντίθετα από τόσους groove-based electronic producers, δε μπορείς να προβλέψεις την κατάληξη του κομματιού ακούγοντας τα πρώτα 8μετρα. (more)

Ο Πολιτισμικός Οργανισμός του Δήμου Αθηναίων, παρουσιάζει από 15 έως 27 Ιανουαρίου 2008 στο Πνευματικό Κέντρο του Δήμου Αθηναίων την έκθεση ζωγραφικής της Χριστίνας – Νίκης Δογούλη με τίτλο: «Συνθέσεις με γάτες και μορφές του δάσους».


Η Χριστίνα – Νίκη Δογούλη γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1979. Από μικρή ηλικία παίρνει τα πρώτα μαθήματα σχεδίου και χρώματος κοντά στον πατέρα της, γλύπτη Νικόλα Δογούλη. Τα θέματά της αναφέρονται στη γοητευτική γάτα και στη μαγεία των παραμυθιών. Τα χρώματα με τα οποία αποδίδει τα έργα της είναι έντονα, χαρούμενα και αισιόδοξα (more)

Εμπνευσμένη από τη σιωπή του χιονιού, μια έκθεση υπογραμμίζει τη σαφήνεια και την αγνότητα, το βάθος του ice-cold τοπίου των παγετώνων. Snø. Μια ψυχρή απεικόνιση του σκανδιναβικού τοπίου, μια περιπέτεια μέσα από τις εργασίες του ζωγράφου Δημήτρη Παπαδάτου, του γλύπτη Γιάννη Κοφτερού και του μουσικού Θωμά Δάμτσιου στον πολιτιστικό χώρο k44 από τις 10 ως τις 24 Ιανουαρίου.

Στην έκθεση, τα έργα ζωγραφικής του Παπαδάτου (HΠΑ, 1981) που αντιπροσωπεύουν το κρύο σκοτάδι των παγωμένων τοπίων στα σκανδιναβικά βουνά, συνδιαλέγονται με μια γλυπτική εγκατάσταση του Κοφτερού (Κύπρος, 1981) η οποία ενσωματώνει σκέψεις για τη φύση και το ζωτικό στοιχείο της αρμονίας και της καθαρότητας. Ο Δάμτσιος (Ελλάδα, 1982), απών από την εικόνα, παρών ωστόσο δια του ήχου, παραδίδει μια ηχητική εγκατάσταση.

Το Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ψηφιακών Τεχνών Athens Video Art Festival, καλεί για άλλη μια χρονιά τους λάτρεις της δημιουργίας, να πειραματιστούν, να εκφραστούν και να δηλώσουν συμμετοχή ως τις 31 Ιανουαρίου 2008. Το Athens Video Art Festival 08 πραγματοποιείται φέτος από 11 έως 13 Απριλίου στην Τεχνόπολη του Δήμου Αθηναίων.

Καλλιτέχνες από όλη την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό καλούνται να συμμετάσχουν (χωρίς κόστος και θεματικό περιορισμό) με έργα τους στις εξής κατηγορίες: video art, video installations, performance art, web art και κατασκευές.

Στην περίπτωση της συμμετοχής στην κατηγορία video art, η μέγιστη επιτρεπόμενη διάρκεια του έργου είναι τα 15 λεπτά. Το video πρέπει να υποβληθεί σε μορφή DVD (PAL) ή mini dv. Οι καλλιτέχνες έχουν το δικαίωμα να συμμετάσχουν με περισσότερα από ένα έργα εφόσον αυτά δεν ξεπερνούν τα τέσσερα. Ξεχωριστή φόρμα συμμετοχής πρέπει να συμπληρωθεί για το κάθε έργο. (more)

In just a few short years, Pan-Pot —the duo comprised of Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix—have become a central presence in electronic dance music’s most advanced sectors. Their rise parallels that of their home label mobilee, coming at a time when established categories are breaking down and accepted notions of “minimal” (please) are giving way to an unprecedented degree of dynamism on demanding dancefloors. Another mobilee signee, Marco Resmann, was a founding member of the group, but has since left to concentrate on his solo work.

The release of their debut album marks yet another milestone for the group. Appropriately titled Pan-O-Rama, the record—which has the honor of being the first artist album released on mobilee—offers a 360-degree tour of techno at its most twisted, balancing ominous atmospherics with an unusual lightness of touch, and running classic machine music through silicon’s digital wringer. Although he's technically a Canadian, Richie Hawtin will forever be associated with putting his beloved Detroit on the dance music map. Along with fellow Detroit pioneer Carl Craig, Hawtin helped break the second wave of Detroit techno. From north of Detroit in Windsor, Ontario, Hawtin has been a DJ, a producer, a record label owner, and a flag-waver for the underground Detroit scene which is only now getting the respect it deserves in the United States.

- What about the name “Minus”? Was it your idea?

Yes ,it was my idea ,for a number of reasons at that moment .I had a favourite track by Robert Hood called Minus, but the main reason was that at that time I wanted to start a label opposite to plus8,and so it made sense as the opposite of plus to be Minus,some kind of be going against and away from everything that we done in the past.I really wanted it to be a new beginning..If you have a beginning and you go one way its plus,so if you want to start again the only other way to go is Minus. Είναι πραγματικά ειρωνία ότι η Ισπανία, από την οποία μεταφέρθηκε η ισπανική γλώσσα σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο, είναι η τελευταία χώρα που κατάφερε να βγάλει κάποιον αξιόλογο rapper ή reggaetonero με ισπανικό στοίχο όπως ο Daddy Yankee, Mr. Omar, Street 13, Tego Calderon ή η Ivy Queen. Ίσως αυτό να οφείλεται στο διαφορετικό τρόπο με τον οποίο οι ισπανοί προφέρουν το 'j' και 'c', είτε στη μεγάλη πολιτιστική διαφορά μεταξύ ευρώπης και 'νέου κόσμου'. Ίσως και να οφείλεται όμως στους βίαιους και συνεχόμενους διωγμούς με τους οποίους αντιμετώπιζαν οι ισπανοί τους κατοίκους του 'νέου κόσμου' κατά τη διάρκεια της μακράς τους ιστορίας, με τους αμέτρητους οικονομικούς μετανάστες και τις πολιτικές φυλακές. Αυτός είναι προφανώς και ο κύριος λόγος για τον οποίο οι αμερικανοί δεν εκτιμούσαν την ισπανική προφορά όταν ακούνε κάποιο αντίστοιχο κομμάτι. Αυτό όμως κατάφερε να το αλλάξει η ανδαλούσια Mala [Maria] Rodriguez, με το τρίτο δίσκο της μετά τους "Lujo Iberico" (2000) και "Alevosa" (2003). Ο δίσκος αυτός με όνομα "Malamarismo" καταφέρνει να γίνει ο πρώτος αξιόλογος που καταφθάνει στην απέναντι όχθη του ατλαντικού έχοντας σημαντικό μερίδιο στις πωλήσεις. (more)

Πριν σχολιάσουμε το debut δίσκο του Calvin Harris, καλό είναι να αναφέρουμε λίγα πράγματα περί του ιδίου. Αρχικά, καλό είναι ξέρουμε ότι για τον Calvin, η μουσική και το image του είναι ταυτόσιμες έννοιες. Το παρατηρούμε αυτό αρχικά από το εξώφυλλο του δίσκου του, όπου απεικονίζεται η μούρη του με disco sunglasses. Βεβαίως και δεν είναι κακό να αυτοπροβάλεσαι [ιδιαίτερα στη dance μουσική] ιδίως όταν ονομάζεις το πρώτο σου album 'I Created Disco'.

Παρόλα αυτά, η αίσθηση που παίρνεις από το “Only I know how to create a party so let’s do it together, after me, on one night” image του είναι πως πρωτίστος ενδιαφέρεται για τη δημοσιότητά του. Ο Calvin φαίνεται να γνωρίζει τους κανόνες του promotion πολύ καλά [και ας είναι μόνο 23 ετών] καθώς κάποιες βδομάδες πριν την κυκλοφορία του δίσκου του, με προσωπικό του μήνυμα στο myspace παρότρυνε όλους τους νέους της Αγγλίας να κάνουν house parties στα σπίτια των γονιών τους την ίδια μέρα. Το μήνυμα ανέφερε “Anything goes - big or small - from a neon nu-rave extravaganza to a boozy barbecue to a girls’ night in.”

Από εκείνη τη στιγμή κ μετά, το ενδιαφέρον όλων περί του ατόμου του αυξήθηκε κατακόρυφα, ενώ ο ίδιος δημοσίευσε ένα video στο youtube όπου απεικονίζονται αγανακτισμένοι γονείς να ξεσπάνε στα παιδιά τους που προσπαθούν να υλοποιήσουνε αυτή την πρόταση. Το όλο εγχείρημα βέβαια υποστηρίχθηκε και από τη δισκογραφική του [Columbia] ενώ αποτέλεσε ένα ευφάνταστο intro για το single 'Merry Making at My Place'. Επιπλέον ένα από τα πράγματα που χαρακτηρίζουν την ποιότητα ενός παραγωγού είναι και το ποια κομμάτια επιλέγει να ρεμιξάρει. Οι επιλογές του σταματούν σε κομμάτια των Jamiroquai, Groove Armada, και All Saints. (more)

Anja Schneider A professional with deep industry ties and a long list of accomplishments, Anja Schneider remains an amateur in the literal sense of the word. Where others might settle into a single specialty, the Berlin-based multitasker is the founder of the successful mobilee label, a talented musician, a sought-after club DJ and a well-known radio personality.

Since 2000, Anja has broadcast her own radio show, Dance Under the Blue Moon, live on Fritz Radio every Saturday night, both on the air and the web (www.fritz.de). One of Germany's most important electronic-music radio programmes, Anja's show translates club innovations to the airwaves and treats her listeners to a wealth of unreleased material via her own sets and those of her distinguished guests. Her roster of invitees reads like a who's who of the international dance-music scene. But it's not just about dropping names: For over half a decade, Anja's show has provided the soundtrack for Saturday nights in Berlin, giving hundreds of thousands of listeners a springboard for jumping off into the long, long night.

With ears trained through years of broadcast and DJ experience, Anja has turned her abilities as a selector towards discovering fresh, innovative talent; current mobilee signess Sebo K, Pan-Pot, GummiHz and Exercise One are just the start of what we can expect from Anja's development of mobilee as the platform for a new generation of musical talent. Samim is also known as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Born into a Swiss-Iranian Family, he was exposed to a wide range of musical influences throughout his life. Soon after discovering his passion for electronic music through Hip hop and Industrial music, he started to develop and enhance his renowned Syncopated Patterns and Hypnotic Rhythms.

Early on Samim joined forces with Michal Ho, producing a wide range of music under the “Samim & Michal” brand. After their first EP “Dini Muater” appeared on the Zuerich based label “Stattmusik” the duo was poised for success. They went on to release numerous EPs for labels like Tuningspork, Freizeitglauben and Kindisch, developing their trademark sound even further.

In 2004, due to a serious cancer illness Samim was forced to take a break just to reappear shortly after, more determent then ever and ready to take the next step in his career. In late 2005 he relocated from Zuerich to Berlin, opening up a whole new range of musical opportunities. Samim immediately tapped into the Berlin scene, initiating his most productive time so far.

He released a series of very successful 12″ on labels like Circus Company, Moonharbour and Tuningspork and due to popular demand got Remix assignments from labels like Get Physical, Highgrade, Crosstown rebels, Dirtybird and Four:Twenty. At the same time he focused more on the Album format, producing two full length releases under the brands Bearback and Fuckpony.

After intense touring madness, Samim returned to the studio to record his first solo Album, “flow” (release sept. 2007, Get Physical Music).

“flow” is a thrilling exploration into the fabric of creativity, space and time - a powerful musical statement which sets the agenda for the next level of dance music.

His live operations have brought him to numerous clubs and venues all over the world, making him one of the most comprehensive entertainers currently available. (more)

The latest name to check from French label Ed Banger records is the crunk and grime-loving chanteuse Uffie. Born in Miami and raised in Hong Kong, the 18-year-old mini-popster now calls Paris her home. A self-professed ever-ready ‘hot chick’, Uffie reckons her approach to music is pretty radical. Her tracks, often performed in a wannabe English accent, have a deliberately staid anti-flow delivery that walks a fine line between electro and nu-skool rap. (more)
